A Thought About Immunizations

The subject of immunizations has been brought to my attention recently several times, and it got me thinking. I immunized my first two kids on the recommended schedule. Although my children suffered no complications that I am aware of from the immunizations, I do plan on doing things differently with my third child.

I have never been comfortable immunizing my children. The known and suspected risks from them are more than scary. I also believe there are still too many unknown consequences of receiving them. Perhaps the severe eczema, 5 serious food allergies, and mild asthma my son developed were somehow aggravated or caused by immunizations. Perhaps not. Unfortunately a baby cannot communicate and the research just isn't there to tell me anything.

I have no intention of obtaining all of the regularly scheduled immunizations with my new daughter until she has been completely weaned and even then I do not believe I will have her receive ALL of them. It is my understanding that my immunities to diseases, including the shots I have had in the past, are passed to her via breast-feeding.

I still have a lot of homework to do though. If an immunization is truly beneficial for my children in a benign way, I want to get it for them. If anyone has a good resource for this kind of information, please post it.
