Go This Way ->
I think I finally have direction for my son's allergies!!! I went to a new allergist today that actually seemed helpful!!! He knew information about food allergies. I mean he really knew something. He also recommended a book for me to read. In this book(I'll insert the Title later) it will describe a methodical and scientific way for me to determine which foods are causing/irritating my son's eczema which is what I have been asking for. I have direction now! Yeah!! I won't be experimenting with milk, peanuts, or seafood at this point since those reactions can be rather scary.
Anyway, (assuming it is a milder reaction) the offending food could either flare up his eczema within two hours; it could cause his mouth to hurt like bananas do (This would occur only in the mouth.); it could trigger his skin to react by touching it but not eating it (if your son is reacting to tomatos by touch, you don't want him bathing in ketchup or spaghetti sauce like boys usually do at mealtime); or it could be a false positive (I hope there are lots of these). An allergen could turn up as a false positive by being similar to an envirnmental allergen. Say a food has characteristics similar to weeds or grass and you are allergic to weeds or grass, then the food testing positive might not necessarily mean you are food allergic.
We are on a strict diet for now. I've got to pick up a book to read and get started experimenting at home. The new allergist is going to analyze the old records and talk to me by phone in a week or so. Soon after, we will be doing a blood test.
