The Night

I pick the older 2 kids up at 6:45 from CCE. I've worked it out in my mind that if I first turn on the oven to preheat and then run the bath water that I can get the older two kids going in two different tubs before I need to put the chicken in the oven. Perfect timing. Now I've got to get the vegetables started and go back wash hair before I've got to get dinner out of the oven which is in 20 minutes. What is that smell? I hope the baby only farted. I'm on a very time sensitive schedule here. Frozen veggies are in the microwave. I go wash Jessica's hair. The baby is walking with a stinking sag at the bottom. Crap. Well maybe she is still pooping. I go on to wash Johnny's hair. I guess the kids can play more in the tub while I change this overloaded diaper. I throw them some towels in case they are ready to get out. Whew! I still have a little time to wipe and set the table! Wait! Veggies need to be stirred and microwaved again! There is hope that the kids will go to bed at a decent hour tonight!!!

Whoo hoo! Perfect timing! Kiddos are ready for bed, dinner is ready, the baby is clean, and we have a set table. Any number of things could have gone awry, but I guess Venus was properly aligned with Saturn today. Mommy orchestrated everything perfectly.

Few details happen... daddy gets home, Johnny gets his medicines for his eczema outbreak, everyone gets tummy aches from dinner, the running of the dog with massive stomach pains, and a chocolate indulgence after tummy feels better.

Now at this point I am suppose to get some sleep. Nope. First husband wants attention. "Leave me alone. There is a plot to keep mommy from sleeping around here. I am still tired from all the previous nights since Jessica was born." This goes on until the baby awakes to nurse. "Honey since you are already so awake, would you please bring her to me?" I know that I am in for it. The baby has a sniffly which automatically increases the nightly nursings. There is no negotiating these things. So the baby wakes up every hour to nurse. I have to move her to this side and that to nurse and we make it to the super early alarm my husband sets and never wakes to. We are at least an hour till he gets out of bed, but the baby is wide awake now and here comes Johnny. Johnny likes to press his head as hard as he can against mine and keep it there. I'm not sure why. I'm not sure why Johnny does many of the things he does, but he is close this way in his own little Johnny way. Jessica comes in to finish her night laying across the foot of my bed. I am no longer able to straighten my legs and the baby is still very wiggly. My husband finally leaves. I am still waiting to go to sleep. Maybe next time.
