The Bartleby Project

The Bartleby Project is being considered for deletion on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bartleby_Project
On page 193 of Weapons of Mass Instruction, the author John Taylor Gatto gives expressed permission to use his afterword about the Bartleby Project on the internet. The only stipulations are that his work must remain uncut and free. I am curious to see what happens to the posting of his afterword on Wikipedia.

My quick summary of what it is... The Bartleby Project is a grassroots effort where students refuse to participate in practices for and take standardized tests. When handed an examination, the student is to say, "I prefer not to take your test." A similar unexpected statement of freewill "I prefer not to" is exercised by the character Bartleby in Herman Melville's Bartleby the Shrivener. Students participating in the Bartelby Project are to refuse standardized tests and the practices for them in a passive manner yet with resistance to threats and other scare tactics.

Good luck kids!
